Python Choppers opened in 2006 at the site of G/V Automotive, a popular auto repair shop that has been servicing South Melbourne for many years. The opening of Python helped to bring a splash of cool to the neighbourhood and finally gave South Melbourne a one-stop motorcycle shop to meet the needs of local bikers.

Python specializes in V-Twins, but owner George Vidovic, who has been building and restoring bikes since the early 1990s, is happy to serve customers who ride all makes and models. From a custom chopper to a new model BMW, and everything in between, Python Choppers services them all.

The shop offers routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, road worthy certificates and engineers' reports can also be arranged. But the owner's true brilliance really shines when he performs full motorcycle restorations and custom builds. The showroom features a wide variety of bikes, from basic to fully tripped out.

George Vidovic: The Man Behind Python's Vision
George Vidovic
George is a skilled jack-of-all-trades, who has mastered quite a few of them. He operates his South Melbourne automotive, motorcycle and lifestyle shop so he can spend as much time as possible with his true passion - anything with a motor and smooth ride.

G.V Automotive is the backbone to the empire, offering mechanical repairs and engine service to all makes and models of cars. The shop does full-scale classic car restorations for sedans, sports cars and trucks. If it's got four wheels and a motor, George and his team have probably worked on it.

George also runs Python Vehicles Australia, established in 1979 to manufacture the Python, a superior replica of the A.C. Cobra. The Python has developed into one of the most popular kit cars on the road, in Melbourne and around the world. The shop supplies an extensive stock of spare parts and also designs and builds custom cars, according to the exact needs of its customers.

George is the leading force behind Python Racing, running two Pythons for the past 10 years in the Victorian State Racing Championship. The team won 1st place in 1998 and 3rd place in 2001.

George's vast knowledge is often tapped by the film, television and advertising industries, who often contract him as an expert consultant. He's been a long-time car wrangler for films, and has supplied numerous cars and bikes to film productions in and around Australia.

True to his varied interests, George personally maintains an eclectic stable of vehicles for his own use. His favorites include a '53 F100 Rat Rod, his 1st Python Cobra (affectionately called "The Dinosaur"), a 1991 Chevy pickup (which sometimes hauls around the Dinosaur), and a Daihatsu Handy Van of indeterminable age known as "Buzz Box". When he needs a break from the daily grind, George gasses up his 1971 Harley Chopper and heads off for a long rumble up the Victoria coastline.

George loves eating new foods, going to the movies, spending time with Maggie his partner (in life and in business) and travelling to Los Angeles and around the world.

Wherever he goes, people seem to know him for his infectious personality and big heart. He's always looking for inspiration for his next custom-built car or motorcycle.
